INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced the Athletic Solutions Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Drury’s Sara Mendel earned the honor for the second time this season.
Mendel, the junior from Ava, Mo., led the Lady Panthers last week in two games with 15 points per game on 61.9 percent shooting from the field and 13 rebounds per game. She recorded her 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season. Mendel is currently one of two players in NCAA Division II who are averaging a double-double while shooting higher than 60 percent from the field.
Mendel is the first Lady Panther to win multiple player of the week honors since Reese Schaaf in the 2023-24 season when she won it four times.
The Lady Panthers posted a 2-0 record last week with a 75-65 win at Lewis and a 77-75 win at Upper Iowa.
Drury ended the month of January with an 8-2 record and will be back on the court Thursday evening against Quincy for the BCFO Pink Out game.
