WICHITA, Kan. – Five Evangel Valor women’s basketball standouts have earned spots on KCAC All-Conference teams and honors. Head Coach Madi Wallace was named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Head Coach of the Year by her peers in the conference, earning the top award in the conference for coaches.

Heaven Shockley led the charge for the Evangel squad, being named as the Newcomer of the Year in the KCAC and earning unanimous first team All-KCAC honors, while being named to the KCAC All-Defense team. Cassidy Hambelton joined Shockley, also being named All-KCAC first team and to the KCAC All-Defense team, while Carson Dillard earned All-KCAC second team honors. Ali Kamies and Kamie Jenkins both earned All-KCAC honorable mention honors, rounding out awards for the Valor.

Wallace, an Evangel alum, had an exceptional first season at the helm of the Valor, guiding Evangel to a 24-2 regular season record and the KCAC Regular Season Conference Championship, the first for EU in the KCAC and first overall since 2010-11, when Leon Neal led Evangel to a 21-2 mark in the regular season in the Heart of America.

A junior center from Springfield, Mo., Shockley had an outstanding first year with the Valor, averaging a team high 14.7 points per game. Heaven earned all-defensive team honors as well, leading Evangel in blocked shots, currently with 53, and tied for second in steals with 57.

A graduate guard from Dora, Mo., Hambelton had a strong introductory year for Evangel, finishing with a team high in assists, passing off 145 this season, and averaging 12.2 points per game. Cassidy also earned all-defensive team honors, leading Evangel in steals with 77, while also blocking 10 shots as a guard.

Dillard, the senior from Farmington, Ark., was again a sharpshooter for the Valor this season, averaging 14.3 points per game, while hitting 70 three pointers to lead Evangel this season. Dillard currently ranks 14th all-time in three point makes in a career at EU.

A senior guard from Nixa, Mo., Kamies was a strong piece to the Valor offense, averaging 12.5 points per game, while passing off 66 assists and coming away with 57 steals this season, both good for second on the team.

Rounding out honors was Jenkins, a junior from Batesville, Ark., who averaged 5.4 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest, while blocking 27 shots, the second most on the team.
