INDIANAPOLIS — KeShaun Thomas has been named the Athletic Solutions Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week (Dec. 29-Jan. 4) in recognition of a pair of dominant outings by the Drury freshman last week.
Thomas delivered a pair of 20-point performances in the Panthers’ GLVC contests against Rockhurst and William Jewell, finishing the week with team-leading averages of 24.5 points and 7.0 rebounds. The Quincy, Ill., product tallied a career-high 29 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor and 9-of-9 at the foul line in DU’s 104-98 win over Rockhurst on Friday. He followed that up with another 20-point effort — his fifth in just 13 career games with the Panthers — in Sunday’s contest against William Jewell.
For the week, Thomas shot just under 70-percent from the floor, connecting on 16-of-23 field goal attempts, as well as 15-of-19 (.789) free-throw tries. Through the first half of the season, he is averaging 16.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest, both of which rank second on the squad. Thomas leads the team at the charity stripe, connecting on 81.6 percent (62-of-76) of his attempts for the season.
