SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury junior Holland Hawkins was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer for her play during the week of Sept. 23-29.
Hawkins had three goals in two games last week. The junior from Springfield-Central scored both Drury goals in a 2-0 win at 13th ranked McKendree on Friday, and she scored the Panthers lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Maryville on Sunday. Hawkins had six shots with five on goal in 109 minutes played in the two games. She has six goals in her last four games and currently leads the GLVC in goals this season with eight.
It is the first weekly award for Hawkins, who is in her first year at Drury after transferring from Missouri-Kansas City, and the second time this season a Drury player has won the honor. Leah McDonald was named the Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
The Panthers are 6-1-2 and are in second place in the GLVC standings with a 4-1 league record. Drury is home this weekend as they host Indianapolis on Friday at 5 pm and Illinois Springfield on Sunday at noon at Harrison Stadium in the Curry Sports Complex.
